The FINCA workshop was held in October 10 in Mexico City, with the participation of experts from Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico representing technological solutions organizations, industry, regulators, standardization and certification bodies, There was also the participation form the IEC Regional Centre for Latin America represented by Amaury Santos. The main objective for this workshop was to establish the basis of a good knowledge to boost productivity, competitiveness of organizations, especially in small and medium enterprises, technological aspects as a base for design regulatory items in cybersecurity and industry 4.0. Finally, the assistants, FINCA members and the experts concluded where the IEC standards fit in. Beside, how international standards can be flexible enough, to know region or country necessities, and how they can change the vision to reality particularly for these global agenda issues.
The IEC National Committees of Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Chile, Mexico, Peru as new member and, USA held the FINCA annual meeting in Mexico City at the Ministry of Economy from October 11 to 12, 2018. El Salvador and Ecuador attended in their role as IEC affiliates as observers. The main highlights topics were:
A FINCA working group will be in charge of establishing mechanisms, defining the spokesperson faculties for the IEC affiliate American countries. FINCA members are very interested that those countries could join in this forum. The new COPANT group on IEC also wishes these countries could join with them.
In the area of the new IEC master plan, based on the implementation deliverables, an important point for the national committees, the FINCA members expressed their concerns from a regional perspective to comply with these objectives.
There was a report regarding the Asia Pacific Cooperation and issue of regional balance.
Following up the cooperation agreement between the IEC and FINCA a working group was established in order to review its implementation. Key performance indicators will be defined in the close future for this agreement.
The FINCA members will provide information on national regulations and key stakeholders in the field of renewable energies.
The next FINCA meeting will be held in September 2019 in Lima, Peru.
