The Forum of the IEC National Committees of the Americas, known as FINCA, was founded in Ottawa, Canada, on October 2, 2007 with five participating countries, Canada, United States, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina. In 2010, Chile joined the Forum and one year, Colombia became a member too. FINCA membership is open to all American countries that are full members of IEC. The participation in the forum is also open to all associate members and affiliated countries of IEC in the region. From 2004, its members have been meeting informally once a year as a multinational group, and formally as FINCA since 2008.
